•Coordinates, advocates and obtains a variety of resources and services for surviving personnel and their families. Serves as the single subject matter expert on topics related to active duty, retired, Guard/Reserve on active status, foreign nationals serving under the auspices of the USAF, DoD civilians and family member deaths, severe illness and injury. Maintains a continuous liaison with counterparts, appropriate officials and government agencies to integrate DoD casualty actions. Serves as the installation's primary Casualty Policy and Casualty Program Educator and Manager.
•Develops and implements publicity and information programs as they relate to Casualty Services, Survivor Benefits, Record of Emergency Data and the various government life insurance programs. Provides casualty training to installation and geographically separated units' casualty services personnel, to include Casualty Augmentation Support Teams (CAST), Personnel Support for Contingency Operations (PERSCO), medical personnel, and wing leadership.

•Ensures 24-hour casualty assistance coverage and ensures immediate casualty support is available to respond. Program Manager for an installation's Survivor Benefit Program (SBP). Provides counseling, guidance, and interpretations concerning the broad range of rights and benefits, explaining both short and long termimpact of the SBP on Air Force personnel and their families.Checkscompliance with statutory requirements related to counseling retiring members and their spouses on the SBP and makes sure each member's retired pay is correctly established.

•Obtain, assemble, and forward all documents, and records for active duty, AFRC and ANG to Veteran Affairs Medical Service Coordinator, the local MEB, the IPEB, the FPEB and other IDES stakeholders as required for MEB processing within 10 business days (in accordance with regulatory guidance), i.e., scan and send via electronic means into the Clinical Informatics Branch (CIB) & Veteran Tracking Application (VTA) to be reviewed by the Veteran’s Affairs department.
•Ensure LOD processing is accomplished for each IDES case.
•Receive and provide guidance to all ranks of military personnel from all branches of the uniformed services, retirees, and families of those being processed through the IDES program of their rights, benefits, privileges, or obligations.
•Processes Review-in-Lieu-of (RILO) MEB cases (includes pre- IDES screening process (Initial RILO) and Modified RILO including (Annual RILO)) for assignment limitation codes as directed or required by AFPC/DPANM and in accordance with established AF guidance.
•Coordinate evaluation appointments: schedules follow-up appointments and appropriate referrals related to benefits.
•Respond to inquiries from beneficiaries, Department of Defense (DOD) Components, and any other agencies and various interested parties within 48 hours. Coordinate with appropriate Points of Contacts (POCs) throughout the Military Health System (MHS), Air Force agencies (i.e., Military Personnel Flight, Comptroller, Transportation, Aero medical Evacuation, etc.) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (i.e., Veteran’s Benefits Administration and Veteran’s Health Administration) to provide information or assistance to the member. Inquires/coordination may be made via telephone, email, or walk-in.
•Assist the medical professional staff and other staff members on the regulatory and procedural aspects of profiling and disability processing.
•Assist in preparing appeals, impartial medical reviews, rebuttals, and coordinates the assignment of Service member’s legal counsel.
