Projects

  • Crassocephalum rubens mitigates hepatic damage in 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) induced mammary gland toxicity in rats. Published: 30JUL2024,

Project Summary:
This project investigated the therapeutic effects of Crassocephalum rubens on hepatic damage induced by DMBA. A crude extract of C. rubens was administered to the affected rats over a 10-week period, and the results were systematically documented. The study was published on July 30, 2024, in the Tropical Journal of Natural Product Research (TJNPR).

  • Biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles using aqueous extract of Crassocephalum rubens and its anticancer effects.

Project Summary:
This project investigated an effective approach for delivering a natural anticancer therapy in vivo. Gold(III) chloride trihydrate and Crassocephalum rubens, a medicinal plant with reported anticancer properties, were used to biosynthesize gold nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were then evaluated for their therapeutic potential in cancer-induced rats.

  • Human cancer diagnosis using polymerase chain reaction mediated assays.

Project Summary:

This research is based on the use of digital polymerase chain reaction in diagnosing cancer due to its high specificity that allows it to detect the slightest change in the human DNA sequence thereby allowing medical practitioners to detect cancer at an early stage where surgical removal is still possible.

Research Interests

  • Targeted cancer treatment and drug delivery systems
  • Cancer biology and tumor progression
  • Early cancer detection and diagnostic technologies
  • Digital PCR and molecular diagnostics
  • Nanomedicine and nanoparticle-based drug delivery
