I serve as a GS-7 Lead Security Guard on 12 hour shifts with rotating posts at Blue Grass Army Depot. I enforce security measures required to protect personnel, materials, and property up to and including chemical surety material. I was promoted to Lead Security Guard(Sergeant) on February 28th, 2021. My duties as Lead Security Guard also include investigating and reporting unusual or suspicious circumstances in the workplace. I manage the guards that are assigned to a particular shift and ensure the work environment is safe and well maintained. I help to see that the guards are well equipped to effectively do their jobs. I work in the arms rooms with the ammunition and weapons. I maintain a journal of the daily activities and make sure paper work is completed correctly.

I work stationary and/or roving patrols. I prevent unauthorized or inadvertent entry into limited exclusion areas. I perform security checks on igloos where hazardous chemical agents and munitions are stored,

I control personnel access to and from highly restricted areas. I collect and account for badges/passes that are issued. I provide security for arms, ammunition, and explosive shipments. I observe and detect any abnormal conditions, asses situations, and institute emergency procedures by radio or telephone.
