Senior Lecturer who has taught across the discipline of English, from freshman writing courses, 400-student literature courses, and upper-division creative writing seminars. I've also served on several graduate student theses committees and mentored dozens of graduate teaching assistants. I also teach university orientation classes aimed at helping Freshman transition to university life, understand academic expectations, and develop successful life management skills. In all phases of my work, I demonstrate strong subject matter knowledge and excellent communications skills centered on engaging others and meeting personal and departmental objectives. I excel at both collaborative and independent work environments.
In 2014, I guested edited Southwest American Literature, Spring 2014, Veteran’s Issue. Doing so provided a publication opportunity for many of the veterans who attended my grassroots Veterans Voices writing workshop. This project required many additional one-on-one meetings separate from the schedule workshop hours. The call for submissions was nationwide, so the publication collected voices from around the country, connecting Texas State and Hays County veterans to the national conversation about military experience.
