Began as a heavy equipment operator. Acquired my Class A drivers license while here, and was made a foreman in 2002. Worked on Water, sewer, storm drain, and Dry utilities. Primary responsibility was still as an operator first and foremost, but this job is where I got my first experience running work.
I've worked extensively in underground pipeline construction since '95. I've done water, sewer, storm drain, and dry utilities. I've been in the field primarily as an operator, but I've been a Foreman as well since 2002. I used to work in Santa Clarita extensively, when I was with B&W Pipeline, which is now County Pipeline based out of Saticoy. There was one small stint with J&S Excavating, before coming to work for Innocenti Construction, and I've been here since. Working for Al, we've dealt with primarily water throughout my entire employment here. In this time though, I've built a good repertoire with the city inspectors in Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, and even in Culver City. I feel confident in saying that they would all probably speak for me if needed. I've always tried to accommodate the inspectors needs/requirements, even when a job needed to deviate from the plans, I've always taken their needs into consideration before contacting my boss or the engineer, and made sure that we can come to an agreement in whatever path we continue on. I also have very good "people skills." Communication is a must in the construction field, as sometimes residents aren't happy with work being performed, and can sometimes strive to make it difficult for crews to get work performed in a timely, safe manner. I've always been very good at reasoning with people and coming to an agreement that proves beneficial to all parties involved. I understand that should you take me on, I may not always be working in the same areas I'm used to working, but I always strive to find out the correct procedures and standards for each area, to ensure that the job runs as smoothly, and safely as possible.
Outside of basic pipeline installation, some other projects I've done for water would be booster pump stations, large industrial meter installation, backflow preventers, Cla-valves, Installation of Vaults for some of those, along with forming, steelwork, and pouring concrete pads for those where needed. Pipeline installation, connections, testing/flushing. Hydrant installations, inverts, service line installations, Fire department connections, encasement's, jack and bore, pipe bursting, and directional boring projects.
For sewer line's I've installed primarily clay and SDR35 pipeline's up to 10". Adept at establishing proper rate of fall with a laser, or "High-line." I've built sewer manhole bases, along with the installation of the shafting, steps, and raising the manhole lids to grade for finish paving. I've also dealt with testing sewer both by air, and gravity testing, along with "balling" the sewer main and pulling a mandrel through when required.
For storm drain I've run HDPE, RCP, and SDR35. Anything from 4" to 82". I've had experience in building drop-inlet catch basins, curb-opening catch basins, junction structures, transition structures, bulkheads, and manhole construction and shafting where needed.
For dry utilities, I've run conduit for SCE, Telephone, Cable TV. Installed SCE transformer pads, but never been directly involved with wiring of any type. Hand-hole construction, and ducted vault installations. Also familiar with procedures for mandrelling and measuring conduit line length.
