  • While assigned to CTCF’s third shift, I have worked in several different areas with many offender classifications
  • Primarily, I have been assigned to CTCF’s Infirmary, which houses offenders for additional medical care and Mental Health Watch protocols including the use of ambulatory restraints and clinical multipoint restraints
  • This Infirmary provides care for multiple facilities; therefore, the classification of those housed in it ranges from minimum security to maximum security, including female and youth offenders
  • In a short time, I have demonstrated my ability to manage “hard to serve” offenders as well as mentored staff on how to do the same
  • In order to manage these offenders well, I rely on my own skill set and the staff around me
  • I possess strong interpersonal skills or “customer service” skills that I use when interacting with both offenders and staff
  • Every day, I use critical thinking skills to make decisions and solve problems that arise, while keeping my supervisors notified
  • Finally, I collaborate with multiple disciplines such as medical, mental health, and case management to resolve issues and provide crisis intervention if needed
  • Cooperating and coordinating with other disciplines ensures that we are all working toward the common goal of managing these offenders with high needs
  • As someone in a leadership role, I strive to be a role model for both staff and offenders by displaying professionalism every day
  • I practice pro-social behaviors and encourage my staff to participate in positive yet professional communication with the offender population
  • Although third shift does not typically include much offender interaction, I am a strongly motivated individual who pushes myself to learn and be involved in processes that affect offenders I manage
  • I familiarized myself with different progressive opportunities available to offenders housed at CTCF so that I am able to provide resources and support for those interested
  • By doing so, I am upholding CDOC’s mission statement by preparing offenders for successful re-entry into the public.
  • Effectively led investigations, ensured safety protocols were followed, and handled high-pressure situations.
  • Coordinated with law enforcement agencies to respond to security incidents and emergencies.
