Significant Experiences


  • Reorganized the 50th state Fraternal Order of Leatherhead Society (F.O.O.L.s) Chapter at FDIC 2017. Today, the 50th state F.O.O.L.S is now a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) business and one of most active chapters within the F.O.O.L.S international. The 50th state F.O.O.L.S has brought top notch instructors to Hawaii with 100+ registered Hawaii Firefighters at each conference. The 50th state F.O.O.L.S has provided an avenue to "bridge-the-gap" between federal fire department, state airports fire division and the Honolulu fire department. The 50th state F.O.O.L.S will continue to preserve the traditions of the fire service, increasing fire service knowledge and skills, and continuously promote the Brotherhood/Sisterhood amongst Hawaii firefighters.
  • Led and supervised my crew of 3 and 6 additional firefighters from an engine and ladder company on the X-11 warehouse fire. I directed the crews in fire ground operations extinguishment, ventilation and search.
  • Led, directed, and supervised 9 firefighters for rescue operations upon the USS North Carolina submarine to successfully free a sailor that was wedge upside down in a confined space by using saws and a pully system.
  • Assigned to the inaugural Hazmat team at schofield Barracks FFD station 15 Hazmat 152 . Became very proficient, knowledgeable, and skilled in the use of Hazmat/CBRNe tools to include, but not limited to MultiRAE, APD 2000, Hazmat id, pH testing, and HAZCAT through emergencies, drills, and training.
  • Attended Fire Department Instructors Conference(FDIC) in Indianapolis, IN in 2017 & 2018.
  • Attended fire fighter hands on and lecture conference in Portland, OR 2018 and 2019.
  • Planned, and organized daily schedule as co-lead instructor for the fire 2019 recruit class.
  • Assist LT. Koa Gonzales in the research and development of the 2 structure fire helmets for our department's future investment. Communicating both written and verbal on the experiences that I have while using the helmets on emergencies, drills, and training on ships, structures, and aircraft.
  • Established and conducted Incident command operations on HIA for F-22 emergency landing barrier engagement which included managing multi agencies ,state Crash, Air force ground crews and power pro crews( in charge of the barrier ), including 4 FFD companies.
  • Established and conducted Incident command operations as battalion chief 2B for a structure fire at B quad on Schofield Barracks which included managing a full alarm operations.
  • Supervised and oversaw the completion of the department's annual training requirements for station 6.
  • Only captain to act as battalion chief at all 4 battalions in a pay period and manage a structure fire, an IFE (in flight emergency) and shipboard emergency as an incident commander.
  • Established and conducted Incident command operations as battalion chief 4B for a structure fire at Little Makalapa managing a full 1st alarm, 2nd alarm as well as mutual aid(HFD) operations.
  • Part of initial response that saved a multimillion dollar aircraft from a fuel tanker that caught fire while defueling the aircraft.
  • Responded to the U2 aircraft fire on HIA and was part of unified command for the incident that saved a multimillion dollar aircraft.
