JASON VANCE

An incoming first year undergraduate student in the college of science at the University of Notre Dame as a biochemistry major with an interest in health sciences and cancer research. I am planning on following my interests and going into the field of cancer research.

Coming from being an active high school student, I have participated in varying student organizations being exposed to many diverse-minds, cultures, and experiences, developing my current value of compassion and understanding. This has allowed me to become more adaptable to changes and broaden my perspective. I am a detail oriented person and keep track of my goals while listing the process needed to obtain my goals.

I believe the skills I have acquired from the diverse and dynamic environment I have developed my world view within and being admitted to a competitive university convey who I am, and in future opportunities I hope to further polish and strengthen these characteristics. Time management Reliability

Member/Co-President, National Honor Society, 08/2022-05/2024:

• As a member of NHS I gave back to my community through fundraising and volunteering; for example, helping at Notre Dame concessions to raise money for NHS and the senior class. As a Co-President I organized fundraising events and encouraged new members to actively engage in their communities.

Cross Country and Track Athlete, Goshen High School, 08/2021-05/2024: 

• Running in Cross Country and Track for 3 years and running varsity my senior year for both sports. Won Kiwanis Scholar Athlete award every year for both as well as the academic all-state award my senior year.

Youth Caucus Member, Goshen High School, 08/2022-05/2024: 

• Organizing Campaigns to run for City Council Youth Advisors where I ran a close campaign for Mayor's Environmental Advisor, but was not elected. After Campaigning I remained in the Organization and helped run clothes drives, spread environmental awareness, and help register of-age students to vote.
