Javier Chavez

• As a member of a fire crew, I received training in wildland, rural, and minimal structural fire suppression methods and techniques; fight fire as a member of a fire crew using tools and equipment such as a shovel, axe, McLeod, Pulaski, and back pump; cleared trails, cuts brush; assists in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance and repair; inspects, cleans and repairs fire hose and equipment, sharpens fire tools, paints equipment and buildings and performs semiskilled or laboring construction work; performs general station housekeeping and kitchen duties.

Firefighting

• Conduct initial attack wildland firefighting on a type 1 handcrew
• Cut direct and indirect fire line while using various tools such as McLeod, Pulaski, and Chainsaw
• Proper use of fire devices such as drip torches and fusees during firing operations
• Mop-up and patrol burned areas after fire to locate and eliminate hot spots
• Inspect, clean, repair fire tools, hose, and equipment
• Perform intense physically demanding work in all weather conditions including extreme heat
• Identified hazard trees in burned areas ( candlesticks, cat faces, burned out root systems, snags etc.) taking necessary precautions when removing or monitoring for re-ignition
• Conduct suppression repair and rehab tactics
• Cut handline and clear out defensible space to protect structures during wildfire

Fuel load reduction modification

• Safe and efficiently cut, remove vegetation fuel using a chainsaw
• Pile and ignite vegetation for fuel reduction
• Conduct controlled burn operations on both holding and igniting
• Create fuel breaks throughout parks

Hand and power tools

• Maintain equipment and tools daily to ensure peak working conditions
• Performing daily maintenance, cleaning, and basic repair of chainsaws
• Cutting fireline and fuel reduction with chainsaw

• As an EMT-B, I strictly followed the processes, policies, quality standards and expectations of quality patient care and exceptional customer service ; Providing basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, and assisting patients dependent on the situation ; Understand, address and resolve patient/customer needs to ensure the most appropriate treatment and/or course of action ;Remained calm while working in difficult and stressful situations, and stay focused while carrying out the functions of the position to the best of my ability.

Rig inspection

• Ensuring rig is properly stocked of all medical equipment ranging from oxygen devices, vital equipment, decontamination supplies, patient transport devices and personal protective equipment
• Testing and ensuring all electronic devices in rig are in service and working condition
• Vehicle check out ensuring tires, engine oil, gas, and lights and sirens are in service

Patient Care
