During this period I was assigned to the Aids to Navigation Team Kodiak, this unit was responsible for the servicing via Helicopter, nearly 90% of Alaska's land based aids to navigation. These aids are vital for the safe navigation of Alaska's waterways into major ports and shipping channels.
I was assigned as Lead Petty Officer during this time; this came with the responsibility of coordinating all deployments to rural Alaska with Air Station Kodiak, supervising the deployments and the inventory manifest, maintaining inventory of all equipment, identifying and coordinating lodging and transportation for the crew during these deployments, as well as supervising the other petty officers assigned to the unit.
During this period I obtained numerous qualifications such as helicopter hoist cert, HAZMAT transportation cert, and cold weather survival training cert.
