  • Become familiar with Rivian's Prototype Special Projects procedures for surfacing and finishing pre-production composites, (3d print parts and mach-up/test-fit applications).
  • Record all issues received in PSP Department, ranging from necessary prototype modifications, cost reduction adaptations and modifications, component and body fitment alignment issues and evaluate most optimal procedures to reduce time spent to correct issues.
  • Travel across country, when needed, to vehicle plant to assist in correction of body alignment jigs on production line.
  • Work directly with engineers to collaborate solutions to modify or add to prototype applications.
  • Perform body surfacing - filling, contouring, flush-gap and streamlining. Primer application - epoxy, high build, dtm, corrosion protection, sealer and more. Surface preparation for paint - block sand through all grit levels, 400-1000. Highlight check with spray solvent - check under florescent light banks to duplicate factory dimensions and optimize contour fluidity. Multiple paint applications - OEM color match, custom color match, bare metal finishing with matte and gloss clear applications and custom texture applications. Color sand and polish when needed to match desired texture or orange peel, specific to each project.
  • Fabricate any needed shop equipment made from steel, aluminum, wood or composites.
  • Complete jira tickets for all necessary tasks listed above, alongside completing isometrics and spec sheet cut lists for metal fabrication. MIG welding and TIG welding aluminum and steel. Fabrication of various test apparatuses for ergonomics, load test studies and hazardous containment procedures.
  • Build shipping containers when necessary for large projects needed for outsourcing processes.
  • Assist service teams with removal and installation of mechanical or electrical components to both address issues needing correction and/or replacement with modified or eliminated parts.
