A Harbor Police Officer interprets and enforces state/ federal laws, directives, rules, and regulations on land and harbor waterways. Assigned to the Harbor Patrol Unit as a coxswain (boat operator) and primary boarding officer of the marine craft/ vessel.

• Operates a marine craft to patrol the Military Ocean Terminal-Port Chicago waterways, enforcing applicable federal, state and local waterway laws, regulations and rules. Assists recreational boaters and makes rescues.
• Patrols the Military Ocean Terminal-Port Chicago waterways to provide security and prevent crime; assists Coast Guard vessels; escorts large vessels through harbor channels.
• Conduct law enforcement duties at interior/exterior gates, assures proper identification of all personnel or motor traffic, clears visitors, and maintains prescribed records within installation.
• Exercise arrest and apprehension authority that includes the power to detain and incarcerate individuals pending completion of committed/formal charges.
• Acts as first responder to all types of emergencies or volatile situations such as terrorist attacks, hostage/barricaded situations, bomb threats, vehicle accidents, robberies, intrusions, hazardous material incidents, and other emergencies.
• Respond to emergency calls for service while adhering to state and federal laws and to perform investigations regarding unusual situations and/or violations of the law.
• Checkpoint inspections of packages/ belongings when admitting personnel into controlled areas of the installation. Patrolling areas to detect, deter, and defend against threats.
• Assist to plan and schedule work for police personnel for various law enforcement missions, routinely adjusting duties to respond to other prioritized missions while supervising the assigned workload.
• Provide clear guidance to subordinate police officers handling unusual law enforcement situations.
• Observe and respond to reports of crime ranging from violations of rules and up to felonies. Take charge of crime or accident scenes, and restrict access to individuals required on scene.

SRT Police Officers are highly trained and equipped team members who serve as the principal rapid response force in the event of a major disruption or active threat situation and respond to emergencies requiring advanced law enforcement tactics.

• To employ the ideal tactical response to resolve high-risk incidents (such as active threats, barricaded subjects, high-risk warrants, hostage situations, and law enforcement searches-raids) requiring increased capabilities and specialized tactics.
• Members of the team are equipped with rifles, shotguns, gas masks, and ballistic helmets and vests. Employ a variety of less-lethal devices and chemical agents to reduce the need to use lethal force during an encounter.
• SRT members are expected to be available “on-call” at short notice, dedicate a significant amount of personal time to training, and strive for continuous improvement in the performance of the team's mission.
• Provide training in tactics to other members of the police department, during directed training exercises.
• Mandatory advance law enforcement tactics training conducted on a weekly basis per standard operating procedure (SOP) requirements.

A Harbor Patrol DASG Gunner / Coxswain conducts force protection duties and enforces federal laws and regulations. Assigned to the Harbor Patrol Unit as a coxswain (boat operator) and 240b gunner on a tactical WRT (Waterborne Response Team).

• Conduct law enforcement assistant functions such as access control procedures. Permit authorized persons to enter the installation and monitor the access control points.
• Thorough vehicle searches are conducted on a daily basis when visiting/ conducting business in and around the installation.
• Respond to calls for police-security assistance, timely emergency/ Incident response, and assisting accident victims by providing first aid.
• Coordinated and supervised daily operations for WRT personnel and established daily goals for Harbor Patrol operations.
• Taught new team members how to operate and maintain weapons. Learned and maintained proficiency in different shooting positions.
• Consistent foot, vehicle, and vessel patrols throughout the installation. Primarily waterside and ammunition security of all assets. On the lookout for unauthorized personnel within the restricted areas/waterways.
• Exercise the appropriate levels of force to restrain individuals not following laws and regulations. Maintain compliance with procedures for detaining suspects.

CTR / Salary: $80,000

A Protective Services Officer is an armed officer of NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), who has successfully completed the required NASA Federal Law Enforcement Training training, with NASA federal arrest authority and Federal Magistrate Training.

• First response to Incidents/emergencies, enforcing federal law and assimilated state law.
• Required to interact and escort as required with public and government personnel. Conduct mobile patrols, inspections and searches.
• Remained calm and alert especially during emergency situations to maintain order and confidence in authority.
• Led, managed and performed force protection duties to NASA regulations pertaining to security of weapons, buildings, personnel, NASA property, and equipment.

A Certified Person Borne - Explosive Detection K9 handler, whose responsibilities are to detect explosives with ones canine in all areas and aspects from large crowds, buildings, vehicles, and cargo.

• Required to search for and identify explosive threats at commercial venues and airports. Scanning crowds and cargo with canine to identify potential person-borne explosives.
• Supervise canines behavioral signs and responsible for initiating a search if ones canine signals that it has found contraband.

Assigned as a Joint Task Force (JTF) armed guard and a member of a highly trained tactical Emergency Response Team with upholding the security of Camp Alpha & a classified compound out of Hamid Karzai Int'l Airport (HKIA) in Afghanistan.
