In May 2025, I was honored to receive the Southern Region FFA Service Learning Award for my ongoing work supporting animal welfare. The project began during the 2023-2024 year, when I began a fundraiser to raise money for local animal shelters including the LA County Animal Shelter. Each week, I set up a snack sale table at a busy recreation area, raising funds and spreading awareness about animal welfare. As the project grew, I realized there was even more I could do to make a difference. In 2024-2025, I expanded my efforts by starting an official Animal Welfare Club. Through the club, I was able to involve more students, organize craft projects to make pet toys and beds, and increase donations to shelters. Receiving the FFA Service Learning Award recognized not only my personal efforts, but also the power of turning a small idea into a larger community impact.
