
Experienced working with children in many different areas. I am able to use my analytical and problem solving skills to help create a welcoming environment for children of all ages. I have a passion for community and unity. I am focused on finding a position that allows me to make decisions so that more individuals are represented and have their needs understood. I want to continue to be a positive influence in the lives of young individuals.
I am a basketball official for I9 sports. I also coach a developmental basketball clinic for kids ages 5-14. I am responsible for creating practice plans to help kids become better basketball players in 4 practices .
I have been an after school counselor at the former Ogden Activity Center and now at Blair Elementary as a part time site coordinator. I am responsible for 30 children (60 at Ogden) and ensuring that they are active and build strong relationships at these afterschool programs. I help get their homework done and involve myself in various activities that they participate in. I am also active with these children as we go outside and play sports every day the whether permits. I am also responsible for their well being and ensuring that their relationships and social skills continue ot get better through conflict resolution.
I was trained to teach rising 8th graders for this summer school program. I taught them valuable reading and comprehension skills as well as a role model for some of these children. Freedom Schools was an 10 week program that occurs every summer.
I completed an internship under Rashad Gattison for my requirement for my class at UNCW. I volunteered helping with the homeless, getting to know them, giving food out to individuals and understanding their needs. I also went on trips to discover encampments, or sites where groups of homeless individuals camp and live.
