Jaysen Spanbauer

While being a referee, I was able to learn management skills of players, coaches, and spectators. Also, I have learned to keep my mind sharp in pressure situations when people expect me to be at my best. I have refereed many games, examples being: Regional finals as the center official, and Sectional finals as an assistant.

At this internship, I was able to work with drones, Adobe systems, and social media platforms. This was something I just had gotten dropped into, I was able to learn fast and absorb everything I could.

I was doing a lot of hands on maintenance with a constant attention to detail. We worked on very luxurious properties with the owners wanting a great attention to detail for the price they were paying. Every weed, every trimmed bush, and every spot of mulch had to be held to a high standard. Plus working in a crew allowed me to find good roll and optimize the most out of the time we had at the job site.

Working in the Pro Shop was the other side of bussing and serving. I was able to take a different look at the members the time focusing on the golf course. I greeted members and set up their golf carts by collecting their clubs. All of this to make them feel seen and accepted for the amount of money they were paying for this service. Knowing how to hold a great conversation with them helped me build relationship outside of just friendships.

This being my first job showed me at a young age what it took to being a referee. I have refereed plenty of prestigious tournaments. My favorite and most valuable are the tournaments I have done at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports and President's Cup in Wisconsin.

Worked in the dining room, pool deck, and for weddings. I was helping out servers and bartenders being able to listens to what they needed and meet the expectations of other employees as well as guest and club members.
