Distinguished educator and coach in Arlington ISD with 31 years of experience, specializing in leadership development and organizational excellence. Successfully rebuilt tennis facilities and led student groups to Europe, demonstrating a unique blend of commitment and the ability to forge meaningful relationships. Proven track record in enhancing team performance and academic achievement.
Committed to continue educating people of all ages, specifically about the individual stories of the Medal of Honor recipients from the Civil War to the present.
Subjects taught at over 24 years include: World Geography, World History, LIFE (Lamar's Investment in Future Excellence), PALs (Peer Assistance and Leadership), U.S. History. In each of these, my classroom centered around teaching more than the subject matter. This meant organization skills, critical thinking, and how to work as a team.
While teaching US History, even before the concept of the Medal of Honor Museum arrived, I wanted students to hear the stories of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain at Gettysburg, Vernon Baker in WWII, and Roy Benavides in Vietnam.
In August of 2000, I became the Assistant Tennis Coach, and took over as the Head Tennis Coach in the summer of 2004. Throughout the years this job involved all the logistics of hiring / supervising assistant coaches, developing a budget, organizing a schedule for the fall and spring seasons, coordinating transportation for matches / tournaments, fundraising and maintaining a booster club for parents, and providing leadership development for players. All of these things in addition to the daily coaching duties required o maintain a consistent winning program.
I also designed and oversaw a complete rebuild of the entire tennis facility.
I taught a new subject each year at Nichols Jr. High and was part of a team of core subject teachers (math, science, English, social studies) that planned lessons across the curriculum and worked together in areas of discipline, tutoring, and academic achievement.
In the summers of 1996 and 1997 I led of student study group to Europe for 16 days.
