School work and off campus activities

In high school (September 2017- June 2020) I was able to take a leadership class for 2 years that allowed me to gain team building skills such as:

  • To speak up and communicate my opinion while being mindful and respectful to others
  • Take criticism with a growth mentality
  • To able to adapt in any work environment
  • Being able to communicate work well with anyone

Overall leadership granted me with the opportunity to work with 9th graders who are getting acquainted with high school and need assistance to navigate through their 1st year, not only did we provide assistance with school work but we also provided friendship/mentors, attendance tracker, one on one counseling, plan activities, check ins while learning how to communicate with our new buddies with different characteristics. I learned how build respectful relationships and how to strengthen and maintain them. I loved the experience so much that I ended up working at 16 years old as a teachers aide under a program called "Team Read" which helped teach elementary students how to read throughout my sophomore and junior year.
