Hobbies

I am married to my amazing husband, Eric, for 16 years. We have 2 son's; Trey (30) and Aiden (7). We live on a 53  acre farm where we raise chickens, and share our fields with our neighbors so that her cows have more fresh grass to graze. When we aren't busy on the farm, I like to make "mini nunchuks" out of paracord, and sell them as a fund raiser to help cover the cost of tournaments and seminars etc. I also  make pararcord lanyards for the U.S. Military to use in the field. It's kind of my way of giving back to our Military.

My son, Aiden and I both train in Martial Arts. I currently hold the rank of 4th Degree Master Black Belt (Associate Master Instructor) through the United States ChungDoKwan Association (USCKDA). This association has been around for over 55 yrs, and has been called "The Best of the Best" by the Kukkiwon in South Korea. I am 1 in a million to achieve the rank of Black Belt, and about 1 in 10 million to achieve the rank of Master. I achieved this rank while working a full time job, and raising a family.

The requirements to achieve such an honored rank required me to:

  • Attend trainings at least twice a week
  • Have the self disciple to train outside of class
  • Maintain and present my student/black belt portfolios for evaluation at each of my belt testings
  • Attend Training Seminars/Conferences
  • Compete and Judge at Local, State, Regional, and when necessary National Tournaments
  • Lead/Assist in the training of the school's Gup (color belt) and Black Belt Students
  • Submit a video of me performing all my Black Belt forms (10) for evaluation by our associations KwanJung (President) GrandMaster Brenda J Sell 9th Degree Black Belt and highest ranked Non-Korean Female in the World. This video, despite all my other work, was the determining factor in the decision to present me with an invite to test for my 4th Degree.
  • Write a thesis for my 4th Degree Master Black Belt requirement.
  • Develop and submit a Master Project that will assist in the training and development of all the USCKDA students
  • Be evaluated before a National Testing Board (Which includes our KwanJung) before I would be awarded my 4th Degree Master Black Belt - These evaluations can take as little as 3 hours and and as long as 6 hours. And it requires ALOT of mental and Physical strength.
