Affiliations

  • Co-chairman of the Employee Unit Practice Council for the Emergency Room, 2000, 2001, DePaul Health Center. Provided up-to-date data on hospital information, policy changes, and best practices to ER staff. UPC allowed the staff an opportunity to express ER concerns. Help develop new strategies for the ER triage. Committee accomplishments: 1. Develop a plan for ruling out MIs on patients' arrival to the ER for patients experiencing chest and upper abdominal pain. This resulted in a protocol for anyone age 35 and older with pain above the umbilicus to have an EKG done on arrival to the ED. 2. The established protocols for common health complaints allow treatment to be initiated on arrival at the emergency department.
  • Member Triage Committee, DePaul Health Center, The triage committee developed a new process to improve patient triage and achieve the best patient outcomes. I influenced the committee to initiate a process that included blood draws and X-rays while the patient was in the waiting room. This allowed the test results to be processed before patients saw the ED physician, resulting in patients experiencing a decreased length of time in the ED.
