- Started as a red hat, worked outby for about a month and helped on belt, power and fan moves when needed. Quickly found my permanent section and worked hard to be able to run equipment and be trusted doing jobs on my own and or leading other inexperienced miners.
- Ran Forklift and Scoop often.
- Learned to run buggy when running coal at end of shift.
- Became the guy who set tailpiece and got all belt move supplies and structure up to section.
- Took my black hat test and got an outby scoop job.
- For the last few months before the mass layoff I had been working in the bleeder, around very bad conditions, building walls, packing pumpable bags, setting posts, hauling old structure out, winding belt.
