I'm a dependable and dedicated professional with a strong work ethic and a versatile skill set. I quickly adapt to new environments and challenges, bringing a proactive approach to every task. My background in biology has not only deepened my understanding of the natural world but has also fueled a strong passion for wildlife and environmental conservation, complementing my hands-on work experience across various roles.
At MBK, I began as an entry-level staff member and worked my way up to a management role through dedication, adaptability, and a strong work ethic. Despite being in management, I remained hands-on, performing tasks across all levels of the company. As an ocean guide and naturalist, I led wildlife observation excursions that provided guests with safe, educational, and memorable experiences with marine mammals, birds, and other aquatic species. I also served as a safety guide, conducting rescues in hazardous conditions and training both staff and clients in kayaking skills, safety protocols, and rescue techniques. In my management role, I was responsible for coordinating staff events, overseeing rescue operations, and handling essential office duties that supported smooth company operations. Managing two separate locations was a regular part of my responsibilities, along with booking management, processing transactions, and ensuring exceptional customer service through efficient and professional administrative support.
Similar to my current job at Monterey Bay Kayaks, I started in an entry level job as a banquet server/bartender and moved quickly up to a supervisory role. As a banquet captain, I ensured timely preparation of function spaces according to client specifications, providing them a hassle-free experience on their special day or event. Furthermore, I managed different staff teams, including Bartenders, MC's, Servers, and Kitchen Staff, all while in a fast-paced environment.
Working at the Hyatt Hotel in Sacramento, I was introduced into a whole new set of skills that developed into leadership, problem solving, and responsibility. After working as a server and bartender, I was able to create and run a new barback position to help make the banquet department run more smoothly. The position was such a great success that my mangers made it a permanent position in which I trained new hires. Among working in Banquets, I also worked in other departments such as room service, one onsite bar, and two restaurants (One being a Triple Diamond rated steak house).
