Summary

With over 35 years of experience in Professional baseball at different levels (short season to major leagues) I have learned the importance of building strong relationships (Players and Staff). In my opinion there are 3 questions a player should ask themselves of a coach;

1) Does he care about me

2) Can I trust him

3) Can he make me better

If a player can answer yes to these 3 questions, my experience has shown that they are more open to ideas and concepts presented to them. Obviously this is not an overnight process but very achievable with availability, preparedness, and time. This game is revolved around individual statistics (pre-game work), solid conversations and players developing a work ethic that integrates with the goal of a team. This in turn makes for a winning combination.
