Summary

I have worked in all types of condition from slick calm waters to hurricanes, I've worked with every sort of person that there is. I've learned throughout my time on the water to keep a calm demeanor and to lead by example. I've dealt with emergency situations at times that's given me a better understanding on how to deal different situations. I've had to talk to to different crew members about their job, responsibilities and careers, I had to listen and try to come up with solutions on how to handle each persons problems, weather on the job or at home. I've work in the Gulf of Mexico and on boats sense 1988, I started out as a deckhand and worked my way up to captain, Nov. 12, 1991 I got my first captain's license, it was a 100 ton, I was running 130 ft crew boats, in the oil fields of the Gulf. In 2001 I made a move to running tugboats, the move was based on money and a slower pace but it came with higher stress, more danger and working longer hitches away from home. I've always worked to keep my crews safe, I work out on deck anytime I can, I believe in leading by example and listening when problems arise weather it's something that work related or at home. I know good relations with your crew can lead to good results with the task at hand.

while working on tugs, my responsibilities included, plotting a course, taking care of paperwork, knowing how make upon the push or towline, pretrip safety meetings, assigning responsibilities to crews, making sure engine room maintenance performed as well as good housekeeping. Keeping my employers satisfied and well as contractor we were working for. Having weekly safety meeting and drills, such as fire, abandon ship, man overboard and others.

Although I quit school and got my GED I've never quit learning. I've got my 100 captains license in 1991, I've went through several schools in my career, currently I hold, a 300 ton near coastal license that's good for running up to 200 mile offshore, an unlimited western rivers license, STCW, A/B unlimited, marine radio license, radar unlimited and several other type license,

  • I know how to plan for the job weather working in hot or cold temperature I can run power tools, hand tools and different types of machinery, I can take orders and fulfill the tack at hand
