Shimming dies, correct visual judgment of inch measure increments per shim thickness, manual & overhead crane operations, correct lockout/tag out procedures, proper graphite lube preparation in appropriate ratio, application of lube to dies during operation.
  • Hot inspection of steel forgings for; slivers, gouges, excessive hot nicking, nonfill, die wear, scale pitting, laps in forgings, mistrimming, mislocation indicators from production press and trim press, proper stamping per specifications.
  • Furnace operations; loading billets by hand or manual crane with a magnet, billet sizes up to 298 lbs cycles ranging from 8 to 70 seconds. Constant surveillance of furnace set-up to ensure proper function and minimal downtime due to mechanical failure. Maintaining quality steel billets for production by visual inspection for myriad defects. Minor mechanical and electrical repairs of magnet and boom.
  • Maintaining clean work areas with concentration on safety and hazard reduction efforts, scale removal, precision grinding, accurate scrap accounting as well as addressing safety issues and administration of first aid for my crew.
  • Conducted thorough end-of-shift handovers, communicating pertinent information to incoming operators for seamless transitions between shifts.
