My walk with Christ began at a young age, praying and asking Jesus into my heart. My Mom and Dad were strong in their faith and did their best to be living examples of God's love. I went to church regularly with my family and particularly enjoyed the worship portion of each service. Even before I knew how to make music, worship was how I connected with God in a palpable way. As a child and teen I didn't fully understand what having Christ in my heart truly meant. It wasn't until after my college years that I knew I could not live without Him and His forgiveness, grace, and ultimate sacrifice for me.
Music has always been a natural part of my life. My parents sparked a progression of creativity by encouraging me to learn the piano at age 7. In high school I added learning of the guitar; bass guitar, drums and percussion followed quickly.
As I lead others in worship, my focus is in my own heart first. Over time I’ve been able to grow to have an authentic personal worship of God, while trying to maintain musical excellence. I do believe there is a part of worship that is jubilant, and bold in Christ’s gift. The other part is humble, penitent and at times broken at the foot of His throne. Exemplifying that we are nothing without Christ, I try to maintain a real balance between these. In all other areas I look forward to learning and growing in ministry. I am an open and teachable team player. I love to gain new skills and thrive on improving in every area of my position.
I love to write, record, and perform music. It is my greatest passion and I am thankful to God each day that he gave me the heart and ability to do so. I have had the pleasure of writing and performing music with some incredibly blessed people.
In February of 2016, I married the most wonderful person I have ever met. My wife, Marissa, is a special education teacher at Windsor School District in Windsor, CO. She loves the Lord, and is passionate about helping people (especially those with special needs). We grew close through CBS (Community Bible Study) and have sought to continue our study and daily devotions. We desire and have committed to one another to honor God in our marriage. We are nothing without our Father. We pray to pass on our love for Christ to our four sons. Jordan (6), Luke (5), Cash (3), and Cade (6 months).
A highlight of our relationship is spending time together outdoors, quality time with our kids, cooking together, and enjoying fellowship with friends inside and outside of our church. We very much enjoy the community and close friends we have made in my time as worship minister.
I really enjoyed the young adult ministry we have started at Cornerstone. During the Bible study hour (held between our two services) we liked to read the Word, talk about real life applications, fellowship and talk about life. It provided a sense of belonging to the minority group of young adults in the church. I typically led the study and Marissa always lends a special voice to the discussion.
Part of my goal at Cornerstone is to grow and establish new worship team members, both on and off the church stage. I have loved getting to know different people of all ages, personalities and backgrounds united in worship! We have effectively doubled, and at one time tripled the original team that was here upon my arrival.
The time I have spent as a producer, songwriter and musician has provided me with a unique perspective on leading worship. When the music and media is aesthetic and seamless, I believe people are given freedom to delve into worship without distractions. I can liken God's call on us to bring our absolute best before His Throne.
I would love to have an opportunity to elaborate on the information provided and add more over the telephone or in person. I find it difficult to sum up a person (especially in ministry) through a text resume!
Thank you for your time and consideration - God Bless You!
(Please do not contact Tree or Jesse until I can speak with them) - I am still loving ministry at my church/just feeling a nudge from God to seek.
