As a CDL A truck driver, I learned how to identify various types of scrap metal, retrieved scrap metal containers and trailers from various customers (i.e. : major manufacturing plants to small welding shops), and delivered scrap material to corresponding piles of various types of scrap into the company yard.
I transported and live-loaded various metals to various destinations via Tractor/trailer combos, including dry van, Gondola, and end dump trailers.
I also drove Class B trucks such as Roll-off and Luger trucks.
I received load information from dispatch, located the assigned, loaded trailer for the route, performed pre-trip inspections, performed load securement procedures using chains, straps, binders, material-protection devices, and tarps . I delivered steel products and materials to various customers on multi-stop routes amongst seven states in the Midwest.
I performed procedures to retrieve and load return/rejected orders, interacted with managers, crane and forklift operators, shipping and receiving personnel, etc. at each customer's plant location, interacted with managers at each plant location to resolve any issues, or to assist in offloading material.
