I'm a passionate and dedicated music and guitar teacher with over 30 years of experience, both on stage and in the classroom. I love helping students explore a wide range of musical styles and find their own voice through music. I'm hands-on with guitar effects, amps, recording gear, and sound systems, and I enjoy teaching students how to use these tools creatively. My goal is to inspire each student to grow—not just musically, but personally too—in a warm, supportive space where learning feels exciting and meaningful.
Through my books on Fretboard Frameworks and Guitar Music Theory, I’ve been able to share what I’ve learned with guitarists looking to take their playing to the next level It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how these resources have helped others grow I’m passionate about making theory clear, practical, and inspiring—giving players the tools they need to feel confident and creative on
their musical path
Over the years, I’ve developed ways to really track how my students are growing
—what’s working for them and where they might need extra support I pay close attention to their progress and use that insight to give clear, helpful feedback and tailor my lessons to fit their needs It’s all about helping each student move forward
with confidence and purpose
I’m passionate about making music theory come alive for my students I’ve developed creative, hands-on ways to connect theory to real playing situations, so students can actually hear and feel how it shapes their performance By bridging the gap between understanding and doing, I help them not just learn theory—but use it to play more confidently, expressively, and musically
I’ve taught improvisation to students of all ages and skill levels, and I love finding the right approach for each person Whether someone’s just starting out or looking to refine their style, I adjust my teaching to match their goals and how they learn best I draw from my own experience as a professional musician to share real-world insights that help students become more creative, confident, and comfortable thinking on their feet
Over the course of my teaching, I’ve really focused on making ear training practical, engaging, and tailored to each student’s goals I’ve created fun, interactive ways to help students sharpen their ears— learning to recognize and play back intervals, chords, melodies, rhythms, and harmonies with confidence It’s all about giving them the tools to truly listen, understand, and connect with the music on a deeper level
Beyond one-on-one lessons, I’ve also led group classes and workshops where I dive into the creative world of guitar effects I love showing students how different pedals—like distortion, overdrive, modulation, delay, and reverb—can completely shape their sound and style I break down how each effect works, how to dial in the right settings, and how to use them musically It’s always exciting to help players discover new tones and unlock their creativity
Alongside teaching recording techniques, I’ve spent a lot of time working hands-on with software like Logic Pro, GarageBand, Digital Performer, Cakewalk, and Audacity I know the ins and outs of these programs and enjoy helping students learn how to use them in a way that fits their goals Whether someone’s just starting out or looking to dive deeper, I tailor my approach to help them get the most out of the tools and bring their recordings to life
