Perform on site preventative maintenance and repairs of various types of medical equipment including autoclaves(both with and without boilers), Utensil washers of various sizes, Sonic disinfecting equipment, operating room sinks, operating room tables and lights. Daily responsibilities include PM inspections and repairs as needed. Major rebuilds as dictated by the customer and the manufacturer. Diagnosing defects using my eyes, ears, schematics and multimeter. Daily repairs include working with steam, hot and cold water, plumbing, AC and DC voltage and circuits. Communicate directly with the Supervisor in charge of the department and facility operations or biomed to ensure timely, complete repairs and to promote a good working relationship.
Responsible for inspecting and repairing rail cars in a safe, efficient manor within the processes and regulations dictated by Union Pacific Railroad and the Federal Railroad Administration. This includes recognition of visual defects as well as signs of any non visible defects. Diagnosing causes of defects and choosing the proper course of action including communication with my immediate supervisor. Repairs may consist of simply replacing loose fasteners on safety appliances to welding damaged areas when required. Air testing of the pneumatic braking system and its components to meet FRA and company standards is also common practice. Inspections were performed both visually and audibly with the use of precision certified gauges indicating minimum and maximum limits as well as go-no go gauges.
As Shop Foreman responsibilities included all aspects of daily operations of a semi trailer repair shop including daily job briefings with all three shifts, ensure a high standard quality of work, communicate directly with Fed Ex Ground to ensure timely repairs of needed equipment.
Ensure proper billing and completeness of work performed.
Maintain proper inventory levels as needed based on usage reports and current trends. Audit inventory monthly to monitor for variances.
Ensure employee worked hours were accurate for payroll purposes as well as productivity reports and discuss productivity with the employees on a one on one basis.
Ensured all safety practices and processes were well known and being used.
Handled all EEO concerns as well as general concerns of mechanics in the shop by maintaining a trusted “open door” policy.
Within 3 months parts sales had doubled as well as record productivity. Achieved through mechanic education and one on one training.
As Lead Mechanic responsibilities included maintaining operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Foreman including communicating directly with the customer primarily on repair status of time sensitive loads. Ensure the mechanics in my charge were well aware of the task at hand and could complete it in a timely manner.
Responsible for training any mechanic on any shift in a particular task as requested by the Shop Foreman.
Performed FHWA inspections of semi trailers and converter dollies on a daily as needed basis to ensure the safety and quality of all components per Federal Highway Administration and company requirements.
Repairs may consist of simply changing a wheel and tire, replacing a light or damaged air line to locating a bad electrical ground, locating one or multiple electrical shorts in hundreds of feet of wire. Mig welding of stainless, steel and aluminum was common place. ARC welding of steel was also common place. Some parts fabrication was performed as well.
Inspections of equipment were performed visually and audibly through the use of precision measuring devices and gauges.
Performed all aspects of Trailer repair. Federal annual inspections, PM inspections as required by the customer. Repairs range from replacing an axle via an oxyacetalyne torch and a mig welder to simply checking axle alignment. Replacement of light bulb assemblies to replacing a corroded wiring harness. Installing a small aluminum panel patch to rebuilding the box of the trailer. Spent a lot of time as a mobile repair mechanic communicating directly with customers ensuring a continuing quality of service.
