As an HSI Special Agent, I'm tasked with conducting criminal and civil investigations involving national security threats, terrorism, drug smuggling, child exploitation, human trafficking, illegal arms export, financial crimes, identity fraud, benefit fraud, commercial fraud and more.
This requires working with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies including the FBI, DEA, Secret Service and U.S. Marshals Service, as well as state police, county sheriff's departments and local police departments.
In conducting these investigations, I prepared and executed search warrants, gathered evidence, interviewed witnesses, conducted post Miranda custodial interviews of suspects, executed the arrest of suspects, prepared and maintained case files, provided testimony for federal Grand Jury's, as well as providing trial testimony.
During my employment with the city of North Little Rock Police Department, I was assigned to the Patrol Division, where I conducted traffic stops, investigated traffic accidents, responded to calls for service involving domestic disputes, robberies, residential and commercial burglaries and a host of other crimes. I was a Field Training Officer, where I was responsible for the training and direct supervision of probationary police officers in training.
As a Detective, I was assigned to the Property Crimes Unit, as well as the Sexual Crimes Unit. I was instrumental in the implementation of the cities sex offender registration program. I made criminal arrests, gathered and properly stored evidence, conducted interviews of suspects and witnesses, prepared case files for court and provided testimony in state criminal courts.
As a United States Marine, I attained the rank of Corporal (E-4) and was assigned to a weapons platoon, where I served as a Machine Gunner during the Persian Gulf War in 1990/1991. I received an Honorable Discharge from both my active service during the Persian Gulf War, as well as for my service in the Marine Reserves.
As a Police Officer for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, UAMS, I was responsible for protecting the property and providing for the safety of visitors, students, patients and staff at the university.
I conducted minor traffic accident investigations and patrolled the campus, focusing on the prevention of property crimes. I would respond to calls for service in the emergency rooms for assistance with crowd control and disturbances.
