I learned to prone intubated patients and take care of ICU patients. The hospital used epic. In the ICU I would have 4 to 5 patients, and on the telemetry unit up to 6 patients.

  • I was hired for a medical/surgical telemetry unit and short procedure unit. The unit is both a med/surge unit/observation unit and short procedure unit. I take care of ED admissions, post op Cath labs, post op surgeries, and pre and post IR procedures patients. It is a high turn around unit with all of the short procedures. This hospital uses epic and the ratio to nurse was usually 4 to 6. I could have 6 discharges and 6 admissions on any given day.

Here I learned a new computer system called meditech which they use on every unit. This unit despite being a med/surge unit had high acuity patients. Pt. ratio 1-6.
