Jenn Fairweather

• Self-contained, all-subjects; emphasis on 3-rotations of Social Studies and Geography, Reading, Language Arts, and Math. Average classroom size of 24-32 students performing at academic levels from PP to 10th grade.
• Served on District School Improvement Team, Union Member, Girls on the Run Coach, Drama Coach for after-school program, Social Studies Curriculum Team, and Language Arts Curriculum Team Member.
• Only elementary- school teacher to be chosen to attend the Olga Lengyel Holocaust Awareness Seminar (2019) in Oakland County, Michigan. Facilitated with and presented on implementation of multi-cultural awareness and diversity in low socio-economic school districts.
• Created the first online social studies book, MI Open Book Project (2014), as researcher, writer, and developer for 4th Grade curriculum.
• Active writer /assessor for Anti-Bias Committee for State Assessment since 2009.
• Piloted 3+ programs for Reading/Language Arts.

• Supported funeral director with all facets of funeral service coordination. Multi-tasking and quick- response needed.
• Maintained all state records in regards to confidentiality and health standards. Responsible for Prep Room /OSHA audits and medical reporting.
• Performed responsibilities from coach driving, removals, grief counseling with families, embalming assistance, and memorial service coordinating.

• Maintained libraries in two buildings; taught language arts- connected standards to grades 1st-3rd, 4th-6th grade. Added Book Clubs for 6th grade classes
• Responsible for Book Fairs for two buildings, reported actual grades for library times (+800 students), and purchased grade-appropriate approved nonfiction and fiction materials. (Contractual position that was available when returning from teaching overseas).

• Fulbright Teacher Exchange; hired specifically because of experience with 'At-Risk' students. extremely elevated teacher- turnover rate in Southeast London, low SES area. Equivalent to 5th Grade teacher.
• Taught all subjects in OFSTED- based curriculum, including Religious Education, Music Appreciation, Physical Education, and varying levels of Reading/ Language Arts. Evaluated as Outstanding Educator during the school year.
• Assisted in creating a safe and nurturing classroom environment that promoted emotional well-being and academic growth for all students. Most students lived in council -housing, single-parent situations with high rates of incarceration.
• Implemented USA/UK student connection program to build cultural and diversity awareness lessons.

• Joined mid-year in an 'out of control classroom'; veteran teacher walked off of the job. Created community relationships within 30+ students and re-established academic standards for a very beaten-down group of awesome kids.
• Marked as Highly Effective during a challenging year; I still am in contact with many of these students!

• Assistant to Basketball coach and REC/IM Program Director
• Circle K/Kiwanis Community Program; Secretary. worked with local Kiwanis chapter to integrate community involvement with Eastern Michigan University students.

21 credits; hiring district froze salaries and did not accept a Master's Degree as a pay increase during this time.
