Knowledgeable, and responsible employee with animals of all species.
I currently work at Elizabeth Youatt Equestrian, a professional dressage horse trainer based in Snohomish, WA. My job includes bringing horses in and out of turn outs, grooming, tacking, untacking, bathing horses, cleaning tack, hand-walking horses and supervising horses on the treadmill.
In July, 2024 I bought my first horse. Since July, I have been training and caring for her. We won 5th place in our division at the Eugene Oregon National Mountain Trail Show.
As a 4-H member, I have participated in rabbits, cavies (guinea pigs), horses and Veterinary Science Snohomish County 4-H clubs, events and shows. In 2022 and 2023, I attended the 4-H Teen Conference at Washington State University (WSU). At the teen conference I toured the vet school at WSU. In Rabbits and Cavies, I have won many awards, such as the green jacket award, Best in Show and Best of Breed awards, as well as Grand Champion ribbons in showmanship. I participate in Evergreen State Fair and State Fair most years. I have also held the position of treasurer for Velveteen Rabbits and Cavies 4-H club.
Recently I've found an interest in fish which has led me to keeping crystal clear tanks with an excellent chemical balance. Guppies and bettas are the species I've been focusing on, however I'm learning about other species as well.
I care for my own animals completely by myself. I have experience with bearded dragons, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, horses, rabbits, dogs, frogs and snails.
I volunteered in the Vet Clinic at Seattle Humane in Bellevue, WA, after completing the Humane Teen Club program. In the vet clinic, I would sweep, mop, clean kennels, wipe down surfaces, disinfect the operating rooms and more.
At Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center, I volunteer in sessions either by being a header or sidewalker depending on what the therapist needs. As a header, I am in charge of games, which often include bean bag toss, ring toss, find the horse image and more. As a header, I carry toys around and pick them up and put them away when the session ends. As a sidewalker, my job is to do different types of "holds" such as the ankle hold. This is to make sure the kids can use their balance on horseback, but without slipping off. After the session, I often stay to help unpack and groom the horses and ponies.
I have volunteered at Save A Forgotten Equine (also known as SAFE). At SAFE I would feed horses hay, clean and refill water buckets, as well as muck stalls and paddocks.
I volunteered my time at Threads and Treads. They are a charitable clothing bank providing Northshore School District students and their families with free clothing.
I babysit for my neighborhood kids. This normally includes making sure they have snacks, food and water, as well as keeping them safe and happy with fun activities.
I watch my friends' rabbits while they are out of town. I also provide nail trimming and brushing. While the rabbits are with me, I feed, water and clean cages.
