Pharmacy Practice Review Committee Chair | SHHS

Responsible for the coordination and review of patient cases involving medication errors and maintaining confidentiality for all involved. Made recommendations to the institution to improve medication safety and implemented process changes to prevent future occurrence in accordance with high reliability principles.


Antimicrobial Stewardship Pediatric Subcommittee | Ascension National

Involved in the development and implementation of pediatric infectious disease clinical initiatives across our national ministry. Collaborated with physicians and pharmacists to develop evidence based guidelines to aid in clinical decision making.


S.E.A.L. Team | Gulf Coast Ministry

Involved in the ground floor development of a multidisciplinary team to train healthcare providers to provide emergency care to pediatric patients, including petitioning for the purchase of a high fidelity manikin simulator. Traveled to surrounding hospitals as well as provided local, hands-on education and lectures to standardize treatment of pediatric emergencies.

Broselow Code Cart Project | Revised the pediatric crash cart to include all necessary medications and supplies to provide complete bedside care for pediatric emergencies while optimizing cost savings. Involved coordination with pharmacy buyer and supply chain participants.


COVID-19 and Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children Guideline | Assisted with the development of pediatric specific COVID-19 and MIS-C treatment guideline. Incorporated on going review of emerging medical literature.


ICU Delirium Initiative | Collaborated with pediatric intensivists to bring awareness to the impact of pediatric delirium on pediatric morbidity and mortality. Implemented the use of the CAPD tool to aid in identification of delirium and developed a guideline for prevention and treatment.


Pediatric Heparin Protocol | Developed a pharmacist driven heparin drip protocol and physician order set. Provided education to pharmacy, nursing and providers.


Pediatric Withdrawal Tool Initiative | Introduced a Withdrawal Assessment Tool and educated nurses and providers on its clinical utility in identifying the development of iatrogenic withdrawal.


Pharmacist Code Competency Project | Created an education program to assess and elevate pharmacist aptitude during pediatric codes. Assessments are annual and remediation is provided on an as needed basis.


PICU Sedation/Analgesia Protocol | Redesigned the Sedation/Analgesia protocol to allow nursing driven dose adjustments of sedation/analgesic drips based on standardized scores in compliance with Joint Commission standards.


Rapid Sequence Intubation Project | Created a pediatric RSI kit to expedite safe and appropriate medication delivery. Developed an Intubation and Extubation order set to streamline medication selection and minimize waste.
