Professional Dance Mom with background in dance performance and acting. I bring the unique experience of being on both sides of the dance world: Dancer who yearns to be great and Dance Mom who yearns for her daughter to be great.
Acted and danced as a Party Parent in Act 1 of "Nutcracker" and as a Courtier in "Sleeping Beauty" with WMYB. Performed ballet dances with a group. Brought the stories to life using facial expressions and body movements.
(Also gave me the inside edge as a Dance Mom to make sure my daughter got the good roles.)
Performed the role of Mother Hubbard in "Humpty Dumpty is Missing". Director: Brent Alles
I worked on this project so that I could spend time with my daughters who were part of the cast.
It also served as a chance to re-live my high school days where I performed as Lucy in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" as well as several chorus roles.
(The "theater" was a small stage in our cafeteria, but it felt like the Kennedy Center to me.)
Acted as Dance Mom/Chauffer during my daughter's climb from Ada Dance Competition Team Member in Ada, MI to Ajkun Ballet Principal Dancer in NYC.
Keeper of shoes, tights, headpieces, props, makeup and trophies. Calmer of meltdowns after missteps and wardrobe malfunctions.
Accompanied dancer to Paris, London, Monaco and NYC for Summer Intensives. Incurred debt and heartache sending dancer to Kirov Dance Academy (Washington DC), Joffrey Training Program (Chicago, IL) and Ventana Ballet (Austin, TX).
Currently basking in dancer's employment at Joffrey Ballet as a Studio Coordinator in NYC. (Worth all the effort as I got to see her perform in two professional companies.)
Studied ballet, tap and jazz at my hometown dance studio. Progressed from roles such as Munchkin and Piece of Coral to Sleeping Beauty and Giselle.
Wanted to be a professional dancer, but sadly didn't get the proper training or have the right kind of body.
Designed and taught classes at GRCC in the Mathematics Department. Subjects included Statistics, Algebra, and Calculus.
Each class felt like a mini-performance as I brought the mystery of mathematics to life for my captive audience of college students.
