Lead Animal Care Technician

Pets Supply Plus
Macomb
07.2016 - 10.2020
  • I was to take care of all the small animals at the pet store.
  • I was to either answer or find the correct answer to any questions a customer would come to me to ask.
  • I got the animals ready for transport after purchase, made sure a crash course book on how to care for selected pet went with the new family the animals went to.
  • To do this job, I had to learn a lot about animals and the many dog and cat foods the store carried.
  • I needed to be proficient on what the animal needs for a habitat, kind of food(s) it eats, how often it eats ECT.
  • This was not just for the many small animals and reptiles I personally cared for but also the merchandise.
  • I spent many of hours outside of work researching and learning.
  • I never wanted to give someone a wrong answer.
  • I also stocked shelves.
  • I have taken 100 pounds of dog food up a flight of stairs to put on the very top of the shelves.
  • I was in charge of the fish, reptiles and small animals.
  • Every day I came into work, I fed, cleaned cages, removed deceased fish in the tanks.
  • And once a week, there was a delivery of these small animals and reptiles, that I was in charge of unpacking and getting the animals ready to be sold by acclimating them to the store.
  • I also was the person to sell feeding crickets, which meant to count them and get them into the transport bags for the customers.
  • This job was not only about the animals, but about the customers.
  • Though my job title was primarily animal technician, but I was doing customer service every day as well.
  • We also had a policy in which we offered help to customers who were shopping lots of food, and didn't want or couldn't lift them in the car themselves, whatever the reason, during my spare time at work I would volunteer my help with this task.
  • I very much enjoyed this job, sadly I had to leave that part of the country.

Sandwich Artist

Subway
Macomb
03.2018 - 08.2018
  • I made sandwiches for locals in a small town.
  • I also did your run of the mill cleaning tasks, prepped food, baked cookies.
  • I had gotten to where I was allowed to decorate the frosted cookies we sold, and being the crafty one I am, usually had this task on every day I worked.
  • I spent most of my shift with the customers.
  • My best friend of many many years was also a coworker and we had every shift scheduled together because we made such a dynamic team, not only did we have regulars, but made the store more money in sales we also, gained a fan club.
  • I sometimes closed had to close down the store, so not only was I a key holder, I filled out reports, logged what was in the coolers, got things ready for the opening shift, but got the store clean and whatever small tasks I could do to help any of my coworkers jobs a little lighter on their shifts.
  • I feel responsible for the awesome morale that was developed in my time employed there.
  • I only worked part time but if I'm proud of any job, it was this one.
  • I very much enjoyed my job.
  • However, due to change in management, I was unable to continue to work for the company any longer.
  • I love people and I did not agree with management's choices to change the rules and regulations back date food and change schedules and paychecks at will, it was no longer a safe working space.
  • Less than two years after my employment ended, the store closed due to too many reports of food poisoning.
