• Examine small animals in an urgent care facility, walk in and appointment based
• Perform in-house diagnostics including CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, ear cytology, radiographs, and point of care ultrasound.
• Prescribe treatments and provide recommendations for diagnosed conditions. This may include referral to specialists and other 24 hours facilities as necessary, especially for orthopedic conditions or critical cases.

Worked primarily overnight 12 hour emergency shifts including weekends and holidays. Responsible for all incoming triages as well as hospitalized cases.

• Ordered and interpreted in house diagnostic tests including radiographs, CBC, Chemistry, urinalysis, effusion panels, and blood gas. Developed Point of care ultrasounds skills to quickly diagnose critical patients such as pericardial effusion, pleural effusion, peritoneal effusion, abdominal masses, and to assess fetal heart beats.
• Provide life saving treatments for critical patients such as pericardiocentesis, thoracocentesis, abdominocentesis, chest tubes, and high flow oxygen. Stabilized critical preoperative patients for GDVs, hemoabdomen, and C-sections prior to calling in board certified Surgeons.
• Collaborated with specialists in Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Oncology. Helped to manage specialty patients in ICU overnight as well as consults for new incoming patients.
• Formulate pain management, sedation, and anesthesia protocols for minor surgical procedures in triage such as wound and laceration repairs and placing casts.
• Communicated and facilitated referrals from local veterinarians, other emergency clinics and specialty practices.
• Provided pet owners with excellent customer service and compassionate care for animals.
• Provide continuity of care for hospitalized patients overnight in a 24 hour hospital including contacting specialists in charge, facilitating changes in treatments based on patient status, and assisting in client communication during overnight if necessary.
• Managed large case loads of incoming triage cases overnight as a solo doctor while maintaining high level of care.
• Communicated with pet owners via phone during Covid regarding pet diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.
• Maintained yearly CPR training and skills.
