I am a PsyD student in Clinical Psychology at Liberty University. I have experience with individual and group therapy, psychological assessment, and report writing in my doctoral program. I also have experience as an associate mental health professional on the adult psychiatric unit of Virginia Baptist Hospital. I am currently seeking an internship in Clinical Psychology to complete my doctoral degree, and my ultimate career goals include obtaining my own private practice after being licensed as a clinical psychologist.
For my second and third (current) practicum years, I have been working at Horizon Behavioral Health in Lynchburg, VA. I have experience doing both individual and group therapy with diverse populations. My experience includes session preparation, therapy, case conceptualization, and documentation. The therapy modalities that I have utilized are CBT, ACT, and DBT. I have also implemented substance abuse interventions.
During my first practicum year I gained experience administering the WAIS/WISC, NEPSY, WIAT, TOMAL, CTMT, Stroop, Micro-Cog, PAI, and MMPI to diverse populations. I have scored, interpreted, and written reports for the patients I have tested. I have conducted intake interviews and made referrals for psychological testing.
I worked at Virginia Baptist Hospital as an Associate Mental Health Professional (AMHP) in the Adult Psych unit. I assisted patients with every day needs, helped lead therapeutic groups, completed biopsychosocial assessments for new admissions, charted on how the patients were doing each shift, and listened to them when they just needed someone to talk to. I also assisted in conducting 15-minute safety checks.
I was a Medicare Sales Agent, so I helped people who were about to turn 65 to find the right health coverage for their individual needs.
I taught preschool at Little Farmers Childcare Center located in Tolland, CT. I worked with 3 and 4 year olds by doing circle time, snack time, sign language, learning activities, and working with them on their writing skills. In addition to this, the school has a farm aspect to its program, so I would help the kids get into their overalls and head into the barn for an interactive lesson with the barn animals. This included learning fun facts about each animal, as well as learning about how to care for those animals complete with hands-on practice.
I taught 7th grade subjects including pre-algebra, English, religion (Christianity), and Latin at Imago Dei Classical Academy, New Britain, CT.
I nannied two brothers (ages 5 and 9) after school every day. I drove them to their after school activities, made them snacks, and helped them with homework.
