Summary

(My story) I have been teaching middle and high school social studies for the past 17 years in New York State. On a whim, my husband asked his company if he would be able to relocate to Massachusetts and much to our surprise, they said "yes". I am so excited to be returning home to Fall River. I was one of the many poor, Portuguese kids who grew up in the city. All of my family members worked in the mills and I thought that college was out of my reach. Fortunately, my teachers (especially those at Talbot) helped me realize that college was for kids like me too. It would be an absolute honor to teach for the school district that believed in me before I began to believe in myself.
