Seeking an opportunity to grow in my knowledge and experiences.
After graduating from Kalamazoo Valley Community College in 2007, I joined the respiratory care team at Oaklawn Hospital as a floor therapist. I gained experience in emergency medicine and intensive care, including ventilator management, assisting with intubations, and performing arterial blood gases in critically ill patients. I was also responsible for floor therapy, including nebulizer treatments, oxygen therapy, and bedside pulmonary function testing. I moved to Home Care in 2008, where I did extensive patient and family education in the home, including ventilators, apnea monitors, nebulizers, Bipaps, Cpaps, and long-term tracheotomy care. In 2009, I joined the Michigan Society for Respiratory Care board, where I had a primary role in arranging large conferences to educate other therapists further and support the respiratory field, along with being a speaker for the meetings. In 2012, I advanced to the Clinical Quality Manager role for a four-state DME company specializing in home ventilation, both invasive and noninvasive. I am responsible for all staff education, the FDA-required tracking of respiratory equipment, and all performance-improvement activities. Along with accreditation prep, HR and billing monitoring are also some of my roles.
