•I have worked in long term positions for LEEP in various grades and school districts assisting students academically and in life skills.

•Kept students on task with positive reinforcements of praise and penny board rewards while working one on one with students doing academic folders like matching numbers or letters, colors, shapes, safety signs, etc.

•Assisted in maintaining routine which is so important to special needs students by directing students to the class schedule or their personal schedule.

•Developed relationships with students to build trust by joining their activities like PE, Music, and break times and had fun with them, had conversations with them via their communication devices which I believe also puts value into them.

•Assisted in maintaining a calm, green zone classroom by giving students compliments, keep tech sound low, low lights, giving students time to process and respond to expectations and giving students understanding when they don't want to do the expectation or routine. A common phrase in Leep is "First/Then". First is the expectation, Then is a desired reward like a break, i pad, or snack.

•Utilized various strategies for challenging behavior like waiting it out, redirecting, visuals, communication devices, a staff change, and ultimately room clearing.

•Protocolled on various students' feeding including G-Tube, bathrooming, AFO's, weighted vests, seizures, wheelchair to both gait trainer and slice board for the changing bed, communication devices, etc.

•Assisted in cooking classes to teach kitchen life skills like using the microwave, oven, mixer and dishwasher.

•Accompanied High School students on outings to stores and fast food restaurants teaching the Life Skills of riding Tri Met and paying for food, getting change back as well as other outings like bowling, golfing, mall walking, and visiting parks.

•In NCSD SLC and General Ed I have taught academics in both small groups and in the Resource Room furthering students reading skills, assisted in the production room, and lunch/recess duties.

•Repeatedly requested for long term positions and hired twice as a Temporary EA.

I was hired by LEEP 03/2014 and after a few years they transitioned to ESS; I was hired by NCSD 09/2016 and they transitioned to ESS 11/2023.
