For the past eight months, I have volunteered on their Help Line and I’ve co-hosted peer support group meetings for
adults living with mental illness. Through this organization, I have worked alongside volunteers who are also navigating
their mental illness, and I’ve been able to learn the stories of many adults in the Cleveland area. My role as a helpline
volunteer is to provide a compassionate listening ear, whether that means finding them resources, listening to their plans
for the day, or practicing grounding techniques to calm them down during a stressful time. The most rewarding
experiences are when callers reach back out and thank us for listening and helping.
