  • Acted as spiritual leader, working closely with the Pastor, to develop a school community of faith that embodies the philosophy of the school, which includes a strong Catholic atmosphere for students and staff.
  • Resolved various situations to cultivate strong student and parent relationships.
  • Oversaw compliance with Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCBED) policy, as well as state and federal laws related to education programs, student rights and safety regulations, and funding.
  • Oversaw afterschool programs and monitored activities for a safe and encouraging learning environment.
  • Prepared grade level and curriculum descriptions to estimate staffing and facility requirements.
  • Coordinated student testing and data management including IOWA assessment in Fall and Spring. Worked with teachers and parents to insure data from assessments was meaningful and relevant to instructional practices to maintain a high level of expectations for student achievement.
  • Worked with staff to know and understand standards for instruction which include TCCBED, Diocese of Victoria, and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). This included standards at specific grade levels and how the standards build upon each other from Prekindergarten through 6th Grade. It also included looking at how the standards are specific for success in Middle School, High School, and College.
  • Kept a close coordination with Cuero ISD and Yorktown ISD for things such as Federal Funds that St. Michael's is entitled to, activities that St. Michael's students are able to participate in, and Special Education services.
  • Regularly met with staff to coordinate instruction, discipline, campus goals, and special events.
  • Evaluated staff to ensure highly effective and qualified teaching instruction.
  • Maintained, updated, and required the implementation of all policies including those of State and Federal Government, TCCBED, Diocese of Victoria, and School. Policies ensure compliance specific to law as well as day to day organization of the school.
  • Kept a strong, timely, and effective communication with parents and other stakeholders of the school. This communication includes information sent out as well as listening effectively to others in the school community.
  • Regularly met with stakeholders for the school through School Advisory Committee, Home and School Association, and other groups to coordinate school fundraisers and other activities for the school.
  • Developed the yearly school budget with input from the Pastor and the School Advisory Committee.
  • Continued personal development to stay current with curriculum, law, and other important issues as it pertains to running an effective school.
  • Maintained a balance of tradition in the school and effective change that respects the history of a school that has been a part of the Cuero community for almost 150 years.
