Currently working as a school nurse at Beiger Elementary School in Mishawaka IN. Responsibilities include caring for any health needs students or staff may have. Maintaining immunization records, accessing information from physician practices and CHIRP, updating records as necessary and ensuring all students are vaccinated according to Mishawaka School System guidelines. Working with parents, primary physicians and staff to create and execute care plans for all students with complex health needs. Performing vision screenings and working with Boling Vision Center to provide additional screenings for students in need of glasses. Daily duties include, administering medications, assessing children and staff members medical needs, managing diabetic students insulin needs and carbohydrate counts, maintaining all student records, charting all student office visits and being available for parent inquiries.

Registered Nurse Case Manager responsible for managing the care of up to 20 patients. Responsibilities included providing all medical care in the patients home. This included, wound care, catheter management, tracheostomy care, drain care, bathing patients, incontinence care, lab draws, medication management, head to toe assessments at each nurse visit, documentation completed in road notes and power chart, coordinated with Alicks Home Medical Care to ensure all DME needed was delivered and patients and families were able to utilize. Coordinated care with the hospice team which included working closely with families, physicians, social workers, spiritual care and patients to develop and execute a plan of care the ensured patients were comfortable. Care conferences with physicians, social workers, spiritual care and bereavement counselors completed and documented every 14 days and recertification's completed and documented per Medicare guidelines every 60-90 days. Preceptor for newl nurses and student nurses responsible for assisting with education and training.

Collaborated with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions. Educated patients, families and caregivers on diagnosis and prognosis, treatment options, disease process and management and lifestyle options.

Trained new nurses in proper techniques, care standards, operational procedures and safety protocols. Provided direct patient care, stabilized patients and determined next course of action. Administered medications and treatment to patients and monitored responses while working with healthcare teams to adjust care. Managed care from admission to discharge.
