  • Responsible for strategy and oversight of NFF’s brand, marketing, and communications efforts.
  • Oversee communications team of five staff and two consultants, driving national campaigns, brand strategy, and equity-centered storytelling that increase NFF’s engagement with all of our audiences.
  • Advise NFF’s Executive Team on strategic communications, grounded in continuous analysis of the external landscape and aligned with mission-driven goals.
  • Frequently ghostwrite for NFF CEO, including quarterly board letters and thought leadership pieces.
  • Originated and led NFF’s flagship Nonprofit State of the Sector Survey for 14 years, a nationally cited barometer of nonprofit health. Oversaw survey design, analysis, national promotion, and partner relationship management.
  • Survey elevated brand visibility, expanded media and funder engagement, and established a new revenue stream in research, while influencing funder priorities and providing a mission-critical service to the field.

  • Monitor external developments impacting the nonprofit finance sector; contribute to advocacy letters and campaigns supporting equity-focused causes and community investment.
  • Working collaboratively with all NFF business units, develop and promote thought leadership that amplifies NFF’s lending and consulting services, resulting in increased client engagement and sector visibility.
  • Manage and deepen a wide variety of partner relationships to advance NFF’s mission.
  • Synthesize, publish, and promote NFF’s specialized knowledge. Examples: wrote chapter for US Surgeon General’s report on intersection of community health and economic prosperity involving the business community; co-authored Small Nonprofits Solving Big Problems, sharing lessons from a two-year initiative.
  • Represent NFF through speaking engagements and webinars, including leading a session at OFN 2025 on how to elevate public awareness of CDFIs’ value through coordinated press strategies around financed facilities projects.
