From a young age I knew I wanted to work in a field where I could help people and make a difference in their lives. I began pursuing a nursing degree at Ivy Tech in 2008, due to unforeseen circumstances I was not able to complete that degree. In 2011 I completed a nursing assistant program and graduated with certification. Within a year I became pregnant and had to go on bed rest. Within a year of having my first child I had a second and decided to be a stay at home mother until they were both school age. Once my children reached school age I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. After many treatments and surgeries I was finally able to enter back into the work force in 2020. I briefly worked home health jobs, until I settled into my current employment with the Harrison County Sheriffs Dept as a correctional officer, where I have been employed for the last two years.
