Jennifer Zaragoza Barajas

My volunteering work consisted of me cleaning my high school and the park next to it called falcon park every month, to ensure a clean and safe campus for all. We would split up in groups to ensure our safety, and we would go around picking up any trash we saw. We also did this as a way to prevent people not to litter and promote a clean environment.

All of the club attendants were required to brainstorm and set up special events for all seniors. We were also in charge of making everything run smoothly and of course make sure everyone has fun. We all collaborated, and made sure we followed all of the school guidelines for our events to ensure a safe but fun environment for all attending. We also had several fun raisers to raise money for the events where once again we all came together to plan car washes, school sales, and even student vs. alumni games.

The magnet program was a 4 year high school computer science program. Throughout the program i rook several computer science classes where i learned to code, solve problems, and work with others to solve those problems and come up with unique strategies to do so. I received several awards for my excellent participation and work in the classes I took, I also received a medal acknowledging my 4 year long determination and participation in the program.

I also attended the ACE program, where I learned to work frequently with other students, where we needed frequent communication. As an alumni I feel like I know what help the current students may need, and what does and doesn't work for them. I'll be able to relate to them and together help them succeed in the program like I did. I'll be able to provide the help they need and share my personal expirences with them to motivate them to keep going.
