  • Oversee daily operations for 30 to 45 union-based employees.
  • Schedule the daily machines with the amount of personnel that we have on shift to machine priorities until I run out of personnel to run the equipment.
  • Do a morning walkthrough with the exiting shift supervisor, looking for issues that need to be addressed.
  • Run down the expectations of the shift with the maintenance and process tech crew, such as changeovers for the day, machines down that need their attention based on priorities, and work down through the list starting at the highest priority.
  • Do the morning-after start-of-shift walk-through to ensure packers and techs are where they are assigned, and address any concerns that they might have.
  • Review safety line sheets and forklift check-off sheets that have been turned in for safety concerns that might need to be addressed immediately.
  • Fill out the absence forms for those employees who called in, or the mis-punch forms for those who are missing punches.
  • Fill out the employee exemption report for HR, including absences, noting all the overtime personnel and personnel who are stepped up in different roles for which they are classified but are trained for the step-up position, such as production techs, material movers, and quality techs.
  • Fill out the temporary employee timesheets, and get them to the accountant.
  • Assist in scheduling with missing skids and locating rework projects that are urgent and need to be addressed for personnel to work on during the downtime of their equipment, as well as scheduling changes.
  • Assist quality with any issues that they have, such as defects found, and find the start of the problem, isolating the production to hold in the system.
  • Assist with the safety accident investigation when an accident happens on shift.
  • Form a team to conduct a monthly safety tour and go through a monthly checklist for that month's machine pick.
  • Go through Oracle and look for missing skids, unscanned in colorant and resin, and ensure nothing is hitting the negative for the pending table or INLINE.
  • Fill out the startup forms for the injection/blow molding machines for QA.
  • Printing labels, pick sheets, and packer instructions for machines that are in need of the materials.
  • Ensure technicians are filling out their paperwork accurately, along with doing their leak detector and vision system challenges, and pulling their every 2-hour retains, marking them, and setting them in the appropriate bins.
  • Ensure all employees are following the safety protocols set in place, and working in a safe manner, in a safe environment.
  • Coach struggling employees, and work with them to become faster and more efficient, supporting them where they need help before documentation is even a consideration.
  • Handle employee disciplinary actions when applicable, along with acknowledging employee achievements when noticed.
  • Handle the end-of-shift corporate OEE entries and end-of-shift walkthrough with the incoming supervisor.
