Hello, my name is Jensen Main. I am 23 years-old and am passionate about working with children. I have grown up helping in my mother's and sister's classrooms. When earning my degree, I spent almost every semester service learning in general education and special education classrooms. I also am a retired college softball player. I occasionally hold pitching clinics and help local softballs teams. Athletics has taught me to work hard, persevere, problem solve, and the importance of teamwork. I have always been a patient person and my experience in special education has only improved that. I also enjoy completing new projects that challenge my creativity such as working at an art studio.
I work for Jennifer Chapman at Board & Brush Creative Studio in Monterey, Ca. Board & Brush is a wood decor art studio. Customers sign up for a workshop online and pick a project. As an assistant I weed stencils, make board examples, set up workshops, instruct workshops, cleanup workshops, serve beverages, and act as an extra helper during workshops. These workshops are 21 and up, but we hold child only workshops off site.
I conduct cognitive therapy sessions with children ranging from the ages of 6 to 23. I work with them to improve their working memory, processing speed, time management, executive functioning, etc. The sessions are two hours long and happen at least three days a week. The child completes a total of 20 hours of therapy. I have been working during the winter and summer breaks for this company since 2016.
I have been tutoring a third grade student and a fifth grade student during most of their experience with distance learning. I am with them from 7:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. I assist them with their school work, homework, and computer difficulties. I also provide emotional and social support while they are in distance learning.
I worked for Compsee at the U.S. Open golf tournament. I mainly worked 8-hour shifts and one 16-hour shift. I scanned tickets to make sure only players and their caddies were entering the tent.
