This includes providing sponsor services in line with ORR Field Guidance 24 and assisting in the family reunification application or sponsor application process by thoroughly vetting the sponsor and offering a suitability recommendation.
  • Establish clear and effective communication channels between the sponsor, ORR, and other stakeholders to ensure the wellbeing and safe, timely release of unaccompanied children (UC) in ORR care.
  • Actively participate in staffing meetings to monitor case progression and discuss reunification efforts as well as address complex cases and scenarios.
  • Maintain up-to-date record-keeping on platforms such as UC Portal and Case Worthy to ensure compliance and facilitate seamless communication regarding the sponsor vetting process.
  • Leverage experience in supporting sponsors from diverse backgrounds, including those from minority groups and speakers of various dialects.
  • Followed all company and ORR policies and procedures to deliver quality work.
  • From October 2024 until January 2025, I was selected by leadership to serve as a Unification Specialist Mentor. During this period, I assisted the Lead Unification Manager (LUM) in navigating the complexities of a shelter by supporting staff members with limited experience. Efforts were focused on helping the Unification Specialists enhance their reunification rates and improve overall communication within the program, all while ensuring compliance with ORR directives.
  • As a mentor I played a key role in mentoring Unification Specialist mentees, fostering their skill development through guidance, support, and advice. Shared technical knowledge, valuable insights, and experiences, providing constructive feedback and encouragement to empower mentees in their continuous progress.

  • Within 24 to 48 hours of admission, interview family members and sponsors to verify the integrity of their relationships with the children and confirm details provided by the children.
  • Complete sponsor assessments in the UC Portal within five calendar days of identifying potential sponsors and determine reunification options for the children within 48 to 72 hours, proceeding with the necessary documentation for reunification, either in the home country or the United States.
  • Referred the children to local pro-bono services and coordinate with child advocates and legal attorneys to identify available legal relief.
  • Develop comprehensive safety plans for children and sponsors to connect them with local resources that support their success, ensure compliance with ORR guidelines, and promote their overall well-being following reunification.
  • Ensured timely completion of all necessary assessments and maintain accurate documentation of interactions in the UC Portal, keeping case status updated in compliance with the TKPI database.
  • Responsibilities also include scheduling and assisting sponsors with background checks, fingerprints, facilitating communication between youth and their families, and maintaining thorough client files while providing transportation to essential appointments.
  • Actively participate in weekly staffing meetings to address case progression and collaborate with various departments, ensuring smooth operations and timely follow-ups.
  • Remained vigilant in reporting any child abuse or human trafficking concerns as required by state and federal laws.
  • Reported suspected or confirmed instances of fraud to ORR and the relevant local authorities.
  • From March 2023 to September 2023, was assigned as a Case Manager Mentor, where my responsibilities encompassed my role as a Case Manager while also providing comprehensive support to new staff and those assigned to specific cases. Addressed any questions or concerns related to case management, ORR policies, or assessments. Assistance included guiding CMs in accurately and efficiently documenting Significant Incident Reports (SIRs), now referred to as Child Level Events (CLEs). Additionally, helped in completing Long-Term Foster Care (LTFC) packets and managing transfer referrals, ensuring that all necessary information was gathered and presented correctly. To streamline various assessments, I provided examples and templates for essential documents, including intake assessments, fifth-day unaccompanied child assessments, case reviews, sponsor assessments, and Individual Service Plans, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the Case Manager mentees.
  • From March 2023 to August 2023, I was assigned to provide partial Case Management Administrative Assistance, during which I also completed department compliance reports and proactively followed up with Case Managers to address any incomplete or missing tasks. Additionally, developed and delivered training presentations that offered valuable insights and support for the Case Manager department, thereby enhancing their overall effectiveness and performance.
