• Maintains the sterility of the field and observes for any break in the sterility.
• Management of the specimen in the field.
• Informs the circulating nurse for any sponges inside the patient and prevents retained objects in the patient
• Double checks items dispense to the sterile field.
• Inventories and accountable for all items both pre and post surgery.
• Ensures cleanliness of patient after the procedure and assist in the dressing of the post operative site.
• Ensures proper waste disposal especially the sharps, making sure that it is disposed safely.
• Aftercare of all the instruments used.

As a CHARGE NURSE:
